As a complete packed it works really nicely on the trail and is bags of fun up, along and down. It's also using a lighter weight material; magnesium verses aluminum alloy. The bike has goaded me to ride when I should otherwise be sat at home short on time or energy. The 2020 Levo Comp gets higher quality suspension package than the previous version. Despite the 66-degree head angle, the Levo Comp never feels like it wants to wander, nor did we find ourselves prone to wheelieing out on super steep climbs. For riders looking to do 50+ mile days over big terrain, carrying a second battery is mandatory. There is also a feature called Smart Control that allows you to enter a predetermined route and it adjusts and regulates the output accordingly.

The app also has a function called Heart Rate Control that is intended to keep the rider from exceeding a maximum heart rate threshold when paired with a heart rate sensor. Specialized Turbo battery is upgraded from last year. It has the same geometry and looks quite similar to their regular Stumpjumper models, but hidden inside the frame are an integrated 320Wh battery and the compact Specialized 1. While overall balance is very even, the noticeably flexible, long offset fork, lighter weight, narrower tyres on 28-spoke wheels and short wheelbase can be pushed to their limits relatively easily in tougher terrain though. Click here for an overview of the. It's a outstanding drive system, but I do feel that the charging port positioning, on the left side of the motor bulge, requires additional bending over and is in the travel path of the left crank arm.

It has many other features that no other e-bike can touch, like instant engagement, fantastic heat management, a double freewheel design that disengages the gear box when you hit top speed, and silent, smooth, and consistent output—even at max power. The motor and battery work really well and long battery life means no hassle on big days out. The motor is coupled with a new battery design which is fully encased within the downtube of the bike, which not only makes this bike look better than ever but also protects it from the elements. If you ride on Turbo mode instead of Eco mode your range will drop to 44 miles from 80 miles. Users control the system by some simple handlebar controls that essentially increase or decrease the amount of e-assistance. Of course, you could part with a great deal more cash, crawl up the Specialized product range and bag yourself a full carbon fibre Turbo bad boy, but the additional weight of the integrated battery packs and 250W custom Rx Trail-tuned motor means the small weight savings offered by the space-age material aren't hugely worth it. Testers were also happy to see an improved cockpit setup with a proper 780mm wide handlebar and a 150mm travel dropper seat post with a 1x style remote lever.

The cockpit felt dialed with a nice wide handlebar, short stem, and comfortable grips. Specialized Turbo Levo 2018 was an amazing bike but Specialized Turbo Levo 2019 is even more amazing than previous one. In Turbo, the power band extends just a bit past when the pedals stop turning. It features an 11-50-tooth cassette paired with a 30-tooth front chainring mounted to a set of Praxis cranks. The primary differences are the carbon frame and Fox suspension front and rear. Neatly integrated motor doesn't get in the way That 500wh integrated battery pack teams up with a 250w motor to deliver some serious punch out on the trails.

In Turbo mode barely turning the pedals over, the Levo grunts its way up virtually any pitch you can garner enough traction to climb. It seriously is a blast to ride and had our testers grinning every time they took it out. The Manic dropper worked flawlessly throughout our testing and we liked the 1x style remote that fits neatly below the e-bike controls. What we mean is that manuals, nose bonks, poppy playful lines are all welcome aboard the Levo. That meant we had a few scary moments during testing, particularly braking hard into rough, tight turns and the 780mm bar often felt narrower when trying to hit harder lines. The Trek has a 160mm fork with a 64.

First, it feels like Specialized have delivered a very finished, very polished, very complete package. The Specialized Levo wheelbase is 8mm shorter than the Trek and has a 10-15mm shorter reach, with 8mm longer chainstays. The new magnesium body reduces weight by 11% and is 15% smaller than its predecessor. This reduces vibration and provides an organic feeling to the pedal experience that I can vouch for. This bike is a great new option for the rider who still wants to get a solid workout with just a little pedal assistance to ride a bit faster or expand their horizons. While it feels far less powerful, that's also kind of the point.

Almost everything Specialized has built into the bike just works well, is neat-and-tidy and does its job perfectly. While 35Nm torque is low on paper, the carbon wheels and lighter tyres accelerate hard if you can get a couple of pedal strokes in. And, of course, still seamlessly integrated inside the frame and is easily removable, too. New for 2020 are two additional modes that can be accessed in the Specialized Mission Control App, Stealth and Shuttle. That means you can swap a 500Wh battery with a 700Wh battery, and vice versa, depending on your needs.

Uphill switchbacks are a breeze and picking through technical rock gardens is easy thanks to the lower weight. The head tube angle, at just over 66 degrees is incredibly fun and lively on 95% of terrain, but when you get it into that 5%, it gets a bit steep. Put simply, any reliance on battery assistance to aid the arduous climb back to the top of the run was akin to admitting defeat. While it doesn't pack the full-throttle punch of full power models, it makes up for that with its agility and impressively well-rounded performance on both the climbs and descents. The Levo features a low bottom bracket, short chainstays, a slackened head tube angle and a longer top tube. The 150mm X-Fusion Manic dropper post worked flawlessly and ensured our saddle was always in the perfect position.
